Winforms .NET 5 Designer - It's not possible to place controls from a form into LayoutControl and use the Esc key

created 4 years ago

Issues Encountered

  • The LayoutControl doesn't allow controls already placed inside the form to be dragged inside it (workaroud: the Outline Window can be used to do so)
  • Pressing [ESC] inside a LayoutControl item/group doesn't select its parent. E.g.: When the Root LayoutGroup is selected, is impossible to select the LayoutControl itself.

App/Libraries Versions:

  • Visual Studio 2019 16.10.3
  • .NET 5 (Version: 5.0.301)
  • Devexpress 21.1.4

PS: In the attached animated gif, I got to move the editor once inside the LayoutControl, but I don't know how/why I did it. Anyways, I hope these informations are useful.

Are you sure the drag&drop issue has been fixed? I downloaded the v21.1.5 hotfix, replaced all references to use the v21.1.5-pre packages and the drag & drop issue is still alive. [Escape] traversal to parents does work though.

          Hello,

I created a separate ticket on your behalf: T1014199: It's not possible to place controls from a form into LayoutControl when using v21.1.5-pre. We placed it in our processing queue and will process it shortly.
