We don't have this feature in our immediate development plans. Thus, I cannot give you any estimates at present. If we decide to implement this feature, we will announce it on our news channels (What's New and blogs).

In the meantime, could you please tell me a bit more about your usage scenario and specify which functionality is required for your project? Do you need to optimize the size of a PDF file with complex PDF document processing like Adobe Pro does, e.g., by removing embedded fonts, compressing and downsampling images (lowering their resolution), and removing resources that are no longer needed?
In what area is your software used? How does PDF file compression affect your project? This information may influence the way we prioritize our development.

We are looking a way to optimize a document, much like Adobe Pro does. Although they have all the bell & whistles there are some really low hanging fruits that would improve your product offering, especially when using the PDF library to merge documents generated by XtraReports.

We are using XtraReports to generate PDF files, and are merging hundreds of generated files together using the PDF library. All the reports share some common elements such as fonts and images (company logo etc.) Since the PDF library does not do any kind of optimization we end up with a really large PDF size, where objects are duplicated hundreds of times.

For us a good start for optimization would be to add a Save Optimized method that at least would remove obvious duplicates (Images and Fonts). Next on the list would be to enabled down sampling of images.

So far we've not been able to find a reasonable solution for PDF optimization that we can run server side, and in an Azure App Service. And that support .Net Core.

we would also need a possible to save a PDF compressed (like Adobe Pro). Same approach, we create PDFs, merged them and would like to save them optimized. 1st workaround would be a load PDF, save compressed/optimized feature. If I look at Xtrareport created PDF´s by devexpress tools compared with compressed one (just compressed this created pdf´s), the size will go down at least by 60 percent.

So, we are looking forward for this kind of feature!
