[DevExpress Support Team: CLONED FROM Q570295: Visual Studio is slow when CodeRush and DevExpress Assembly Deployment tool are installed]
I have installed the newest DevExpress Tools (14.2.5) but the problem persists. Keeping CodeRush (and the other stuff) but uninstalling the Deployment Tool helps. It looks like the Deployment Tools are still faulty today. I have VS 2013 Community Edition.

Hi Olivier,
Thank you for reporting this issue. However, my attempts to replicate it were unsuccessful. In fact, once we've fixed the original issue in the Visual Studio is slow when CodeRush and DevExpress Assembly Deployment tool are installed ticket, the Assembly Deployment Tool does absolutely nothing until you press the button. It provides a simple tool window with a single Analyze button.
All analysis and project processing begins after pressing the button. Nothing happens having the tool installed. Nothing happens when the tool is just installed but the analysis is not activated on demand.
How many projects does your solution have? What technologies are used? Would you please record a screencast illustrating the performance slowdown? Is it possible to share you project with us for research? We can mark this ticket private, so no one will have access to it except you and the DevExpress team.
Please let me know how you would like to proceed.
Thank you for your answer.
How can I re-install the Deployment Tool?
(btw., the thread devenv.exe!IsAssertEtwEnabled was the running at 12.5% CPU time (I7 4 cores + hyperthreading), i.e 100% of one core.)
Hi Olivier,
Thank you for the update. I found the following thread where a similar issue is discussed and the topic starter doesn't have any DevExpress products installed:
Poor VS Performance - High CPU on IsAssertEtwEnabled
To re-install the Deployment Tool, please go to the Tools | Extensions and Updates… Visual Studio menu, find the DevExpress Assembly Deployment Tool in the list and click the Uninstall button. This will remove the extension from Visual Studio. To install it again, find it in the DevExpress destination installation folder and execute it, e.g.:
c:\Program Files (x86)\DevExpress 14.2\Components\System\DevExpress.DeploymentTool\DevExpress.DeploymentTool.vsix
Follow on-screen instructions to install it.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thank you for the clarification. After re-installing the Deployment Tool the lag did indeed not re-appear. I still occasionally expierience a lag in VS. Closing and re-opening VS helps in these situations. Most of the time, the cause remains unknown; however, it often happens when I open another solution without closing VS in between.
Thank you for the update, Olivier.
You might want to get rid of extra extensions and see if instructions from the Poor VS Performance - High CPU on IsAssertEtwEnabled post help to resolve the issue.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
