SharePoint - Doctype & IE(7)

created 16 years ago

Hello!
We have a problem with the integration of your controls in SharePoint.
Namely, with the right rendering of your controls
(for example with the rendering of combobox in gridview filter - similar problems is here:
http://www.devexpress.com/Support/Center/p/B135640.aspx?searchtext=sharepoint+doctype&p=T4|P5|0 and here:
http://www.devexpress.com/Support/Center/p/B95426.aspx?searchtext=sharepoint+doctype&p=T4|P5|0 )
in Internet Explorer.
We know that this problem can be solved with the right doctype declaration, then the controls are rendered in the right way.
The problem is that we use masterpage which is basically the default sharepoint masterpage (default.master).
Of course, masterpage has no defined doctype. As soon as we add doctype the appearance of the page is incorrect.
In this case this option cannot be chosen (just add proper doctype).
But nevertheless it would be easier for us if your controls were completely compatible with SharePoint
(with this I refer to the right presentation in IE(7) on the pages without a definit doctype).
So do you intend to do something about that? IE(7) users are numerous for that case we cannot just ignore it. Do you have any suggestions?
The thing is that there is a serious problem with the possibilities of the usage of your controls in SharePoint.
Thanks

Hi Klemen,
As mentioned in those reports, using the XHTML document type is a strict requirement for our controls. So, the only solution we can suggest is to manually insert the DOCTYPE tag into your pages. There are plenty of posts on Sharepoint forums about how to avoid problems when using XHTML. For example, check these papers:
10 steps to building XHTML compliant and performing MOSS publishing sites
Customizing Master Pages in Windows SharePoint Services
So, we've decided to decline this suggestion. In any case, we always appreciate your input and thank you for the idea.
