Lazarus support

Thats a real shame as lazarus is going to release 1.0 in a week or so and it's great.
I am trying to do more and more as Delphi is a money pit.

That is a real pity. Given the current state of Lazarus and Delphi, the former is progressing quickly, is now stable at version 1.0 and provides features not implemented in Delphi - most notably, Linux support which becomes a must for our clients. Even Embarcadero had used the FreePascal compiler (the same as Lazarus used) to provide its iOS functionality. Maybe it is really THE time for DevExpress to reconsider the strategy regarding the Lazarus support? At least, starting from non-visual components like TdxMemData etc… I think there still are traces of Kylix support in the code, maybe they can be revised/reused. As far as I can see, the drawing engine in the DX components is currently abstracted from the functional parts (using skins), so it is mostly a matter of implementing GTK/QT/etc replacements for the current GDI+ calls.

i think devexpress do hazard when only game with .net

Our customer ask us if we can help them to make an application run on Macbook Air. The only way for us is to migrate it to Lazarus, however DevExpress prevent us to do so. I think it is not a good choice to keep using VCL, because more and more people is using iPad and Macbook .

I am also interested in cxGrid for Lazarus. The current direction of Delphi makes me worried expecially the FireMonkey path.

DevExpress controls are one of the few major things preventing me from moving over Lazarus completely. I find Delphi is a dead end nowdays. Please port to FreePascal+Lazarus. I promise to buy and help test.

For now we do not have plans to support the Lazarus IDE.

I would love to see Lazarus support as well. I really hope DevEx is reconsider to support it at some stage. We are getting more and more desperate with Delphi, trying to manage our big project and wading in 'Out of Memory', 'Not enough Storage', 'dcc exited with -1' and so on. We think Delphi is moving in the wrong direction. The last XE8 update fixes bug in TList<> and TObjectList<> WTF?. I went so far and disabled up to 20 (!) bpls in the registry just to get it to compile our big project. After 800MB of memory usage bds.exe just crashes.
So DevEx, we would be happy to to switch to Lazarus.

I'd like to back this feature request too. Linux and Mac are both growing markets. I'm in the same situation as most of the users here.

Given the recent Embarcadero layoffs (80 people!) I'm really scared about the future of Delphi. Will you at least publish some assurance on what would happen if Delphi stops being a thing?
