Hello,
RichEditControl supports rendering, printing and exporting document shapes to PDF starting with version 18.2. Please take a look at the What's New 18.2 Rich Text Editor link. If you didn't upgrade to version 18.2 yet, I suggest you install the latest version and check the new functionality in action.
Update
In v20.1, we introduced the Shape API for our Word Processing Document API and Rich Text Editors (WinForms and WPF). Please review the following blog post for more details: Word Processing - Shape API Enhancements (v20.1).
Hi Mariya,
This topic isn't about support for exporting shapes, is it? My impression is that people want to be able to insert arrows, squares, lines, etc. Just like MS Word allows you to do.
Thank you for the clarification. Yes, RichEditControl provides an API and user interface elements to create pictures and text boxes only. While we do not have plans to introduce an API to create other shape types, we may do so in the future. I'll inform our developers that you are interested in this functionality.
Hello Hongwei,
Thank you for your message. At preset, shapes are inserted into a RichEditControl as regular images. I have converted your question into a suggestion ticket and updated its subject heading accordingly. Our developers will continue working on this issue and you will be automatically informed of our progress with this item. We appreciate your desire to improve our products!
Thanks,
Alessandro.
Just wanna check the status? I saw the resolution is Accepted-Release TBD. what does it mean?
I really need this feature as I need to write a program for our product development team to do some simple drawings base on an image and send to the factory to develop samples.
Hi Hongwei,
Thank you for your update.
The "Accepted - Release TBD" status indicates that the suggestion is under consideration and we will discuss its possible implementation in the future.
Thanks,
Elliot
Do you have any estimate for release of this feature?
At present we have not established any release date for this feature.
Hi Alessandro, I just wanted to reaffirm that that is still demand for this feature! :)
Sure! We will consider its implementation in the future.
just registering my interest in having this feature also…
We are interested in this feature too, thank you!
Hi, just wanted to add to the list of people needing this critical feature. Thanks
Yes , I think it will be interesting for our future projects
Hi Stelian,
We have this task on our TO-DO list, however, we don't have plans to implement it in the nearest future. I'm afraid I cannot provide you with exact information as to when it will be implemented.
Thanks
The feature would be very helpful also here.
I also want this feature in my application.
The feature is very Important. You must take it to your consideration as soon as possible…
We use ExtraRichControl for viewing doc & docx files and we come across many files with shapes in them (people use shapes in many different ways) which are not rendered correctly. Support for shapes is essential, especially due to RichEditControl's support for MS office formats.

Hello Anders,
We are not planning to introduce this feature with the next major version 14.2. However, we don't reject this feature and may implement it in one of our future versions.

Hello,
We have no immediate plans to support this feature in the RichEdit control. This feature is still on our radar, and perhaps we will implement it in the future. Unfortunately, I cannot provide any strict time frames regarding this. Please stay tuned to our What's New announcements of future major releases to be notified when this feature is implemented.
4 years now with the same excuse. It Is a critical feature.

Hello Randall,
To my regret, we won't manage to finish this feature in the nearest 15.2 major release. We understand the necessity of this functionality and will do our best to implement it in one of future releases.
We will update the "What's New" section of a corresponding version of our components where this feature will be introduced. Please stay tuned to our announcements.

Hello,
Supporting shapes in RichEditControl is a quite difficult task, that is why it cannot be implemented soon. On the other hand, tracking all your requests, we completely understand the necessity and popularity of this feature.
We will definitely continue working in this direction and will try to implement this feature in one of our future versions.
Hello
Please fix it realy soon. Our cusotmers are angry.
Thanks.
Hello Stefan,
This functionality is currently at an early mockup stage. It is likely this feature will not be introduced in the next version 16.1. However, we are working on providing shapes in our RichEditControl and will try to implement this functionality in one of future versions.
We will update the "What's New" section of the RichEditControl in which this feature will be introduced. Please stay tuned to our announcements.
That is good news after waiting a long time.
@Benjamin: I don't know how it can be good news to hear "It is likely this feature will not be introduced in the next version 16.1" after literally 5 years." :P
Shape support has now been around in the diagram control which I would assume could be re-used to work in the DXRichEdit aswell. :(
@Yari: You can also read it as "After 5 years we finally started to work on the item" :)
Good Morning to every body. Are you sure that you start fixing it?
Good news here as well. My application is depended on this fix, so please on it. Thanks for the update.
that would be so nice… this is a showstopper for me
Hi,
please could you fix a date and increase priority to the highest.
We need planning reliability.
We will not wait five years as others.
We will draw the obvious conclusion.
Thank you.
Helmut
Thank you all for your feedback. We will certainly take all your opinions into account.
However, supporting shapes in the RichEditControl is a huge and quite complex task.
Our developers are currently working on implementing it. However, since this feature is currently at an early mockup stage, I can't provide the exact time frames as to when it will be introduced.
Any timeframe when this is released ?
Regards
Hello,
This feature will not be introduced in the upcoming major release of our controls. However, our developers will continue working on this functionality. I cannot provide you with a precise date at the moment. Please watch for our What's New announcements of future major releases to be notified when this feature is introduced.
Hi Joshy,
The situation is the same. While this feature is not yet supported, we are researching possible ways to introduce it in future versions of our controls. Once this functionality is available, we will make the corresponding announcement via our news channels.
I concur that this feature is much needed
Is there a timeline?
Hello,
Unfortunately, we have not yet decided in what exact version of the RichEditControl we will implement the shapes support.
We completely understand the necessity of this feature and track all customer requests.
However, at present, I can't provide you with any promises or estimates regarding introducing this functionality.
Once we decide to add the shapes support, we will announce it using our news channels.
- 1 for me.
ps: 6 years of waiting for a feature, it's not an acceptable time. Much more serious to close the ticket as Wontfix.
Waiting for this feature a lot
We too. Saw a post 5 years back , but still not implemented . Company thinking to change the third party control only because of this feature was not implemented.
We switched to TX Text Control because not much support with images and shapes.
