General - CodeRush is not loaded after installing hotfix

created 4 years ago (modified 4 years ago)

[DevExpress Support Team: CLONED FROM T979178: Spell Checker - Spell Checker doesn't mark misspelled words in the code editor in Visual Studio 2019 v.16.9.0]

And I thought I started to write correctly spelled texts :)
But seriously, hotfix is causing CodeRush not to load anymore due to the error below.
There is a DevExpress.CodeRush.VSFeatures.dll file dated 5.3.2021 in …\Extensions directory though.

There is something definitely off with this fix - I can't make it work. Anyways, will just wait for 20.2.9, hopefully soon.

    Hello Miha,

Thank you for providing exceptions from your log files.

It seems that something went wrong during update of CodeRush on your side and the extension is installed incorrectly. I recommend you reinstall CodeRush. Take note that the exe-installer has a compatibility issue with the latest Visual Studio 2019 if you use this installer then use the hotfix from the following ticket: CodeRush is disabled after installing via .exe in Visual Studio 16.9.2

      Hi Alexander,

Seems like my situation is more broken than just "manually enable extension" solution. Also there is no hotfix in that ticket, just the "manual" solution. Is there a VSIX of the spell checking hotfix available (assuming it works)?

        Hi Miha,

We are preparing to release CodeRush v20.2.9, so we don't provide hotfixes in tickets at the moment. The VSIX-file of the latest hotfix (it contains a fix of the issue with Spell Checker) is available here: DevExpress.CodeRush-20.2.9.21089.vsix
