Code Places - can I move it to right margin

created 6 years ago

I just love the new Code Places, until now I've been using a third party product with everything disabled except this code navigation window, I can now use CodeRush!

I would like to dock the Code Places panel to the right, but the panel does not seem to be dockable. How can I achieve this?

Also, the the What's New it states that:
Code Places is turned off by default. To enable it, use the Navigation | Code Places options page or the CodeRush Visualize toolbar.

Unfortunately, there is no mention of Code Places under this node. I have enabled it via the CodeRuch toolbar.

Thanks,
Martin.

      I'm piggybacking this question here.

Please help me to understanding what I'm missing about Code Places. It doesn't seem to do any more than what the VS Solution Explorer already does. Solution Explorer already shows all the fields, properties and methods in the current code window as well as the project/solution. In fact, I can open a code window and look at Code Places and Solution Explorer and they show exactly the same thing. I can click on any field, property or method and the focus and caret moves to that place in the code window. What am I missing? Thanks.

        Hi William,

I've created a separate ticket on your behalf (Code Places - Are there any advantages over the built-in Solution Explorer functionality). It has been placed in our processing queue and will be answered shortly.

        Hi everyone,
Thank you for the positive feedback guys, I have sent it to the team.

Martin, I've created a separate ticket (Code Places - Options page is missed under the Navigation option node) based on your behalf, let's continue the discussion about the missing option page there.

As for Code Places panel positioning - at the moment it is static and it can't be moved from the left side of the Visual Studio editor, but we already received feedback from one of our customers and currently researching the ways to make the Code Places panel position customizable. It is difficult to provide you with any estimates up to this point - once we have any progress on it we will notify you.
