RichEdit: Touch Gesture Zooming; Disabling Undo/Redo History; Comments Scrolling and Visibility

created 9 years ago (modified 9 years ago)

Hello DevExpress. We are using Rich Edit Control in our current project and have faced some problems. We are using version 15.1.7.0 of DevExpress libraries.

  1. Our project has to provide touch support and there are some of the performance issues with touch gestures.  When we zoom the document in and out with the touch gesture, we are experiencing very slow user interface responsiveness. Is there any way we can provide greater experience when zooming?
  2. How can we disable undo/redo history for certain operations when modifying Document Model in code? We need to import some data from custom object to Document Model and we don’t need the modifications that are made throw the import process to be accessible in undo redo commands.
  3. Also we are using the Comments feature you provide. The problem is when the number of comments, displayed on the right side of the page, is getting more than the height of the page, there is no scrolling provided. Is it possible to activate comment scrolling? (screenshot attached 3.comment-section-scrolling_02.png, comments 28-32 are not visible)
  4. The second issue with comments is:
    - When we create a comment, the comment section becomes visible and the width of the page becomes wider. (screenshot attached 4.comment-section-visibility_01. png)
    - If, then we delete the created comment and there is no other comments left on the page, the page width is back to normal. At the same time the comments section stays blank and visible and overlaps the main content of the page. (screenshot attached 4.comment-section-visibility_02. png)
    - Then, if we hide the comments, using Show Comments check button, the page becomes fully visible.
    - If we unhide the comments again, the page content will be overlapped by empty comment section with the same page width.
    - Only if we create a new comment, the page width will be expanded and the comments won’t overlap the text.
     Thank you very much, I hope there are solutions to these problems, or maybe this functionality is planned to be provided in next version.

Hello,
To process your inquires in the most efficient manner, I have created separate tickets for each inquiry:

RichEdit UI responds slowly after the zooming gesture on touch devices;
How to disable undo/redo history;
How to scroll comments;
Comment section overlaps the document content.

These tickets are currently in our processing queue. Our team will address them as soon as we have any updates.
