DevExpress - Wine (MAC OSX) compatibility broken

created 13 years ago

Hello! Let me start to say that your components are excellent and I really love them.
But, recently I encountered a problem… Some of my clients use Apple MAC to work with our software. In order to do that we suggest them to install wine, or crossover, then install and run our applications. And it worked like a champ, almost 100%. Recently we updated our devExpress components and now, unfortunatly, our applications don't work at all on wine (Linux or Mac os x). Do you have any suggestion on how to solve that? I think it could be a missing resource on the wine "windows" software, that could be fixed if I knew what resource to use.

Thank you!

Hello all! After some research, and a lot of try and error I finally found a solution for this compatibility issue. In fact is very simple to overcome. Install gdiplus (MS GDI+) on your bottle and you are done, you can use Winetricks to do that. Thanks to Jack Phinney on codeweavers forum.
Your Delphi application with dx components will run again on wine. Tested on Linux and Mac OS X.

      Hello.
Thank you for your message. Since our components are designed for Windows only, and we have not tested them under other systems and emulators, I am afraid that we cannot give you a precise answer about why this happens. We cannot guarantee that they will work as expected under other systems. Should you begin using our components in Windows, please don't hesitate to contact us. Thank you.
