Dear Team,
I have found an issue copying multiple ASPXScheduler appointments using the trackpad on a MacBook pro with Safari.
Unfortunately many of my users have this arrangement.
I have reproduced the issue on the online ASPxScheduler demo.
Attached is a screencast of the problem.
Notes to the screencast-
- I successfully copied two appointments using control+drag.
- I then try to copy two more appointments and drop them on the cell of the 23rd July. This fails and the page refreshes - somehow this changes all the appointments.
(it now looks like I refresh the page here - but I change my mind and don't do this) - I then try to copy two more appointments. The entire text of the page is selected, the copy fails and the page is reloaded again.
My site uses the APS.NET membership system. Here the error causes the user to be logged out and taken to the login page again. My users report this in addition to the "all text selected" problem and I have reproduced it.
Some details-
Safari version used is Version 5.1.2
The problem only occurs using the mac book pro's trackpad. I could not reproduce it using a standard USB mouse.
I also tested using Firefox - and could not reproduce the issue - either with a mouse or the trackpad.
I tried versions -
Firefox 8.0.1 OK
Firefox 9.0.1 OK
MacBook details as follows
MacBook pro 10.6.8 snow leopard?
System Version: Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10K549)
Kernel Version: Darwin 10.8.0
Needless to say, no issues on a PC.
I'm not sure if it's a Safari/MBP or ASPxScheduler issue but, put together, we seem to have a problem.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks
Chris
P.S. My live site is on DX Version=10.2.8.0
I see the same issues here as on the demo site. Again, it's fine with safari on a pc.
Thanks
Chris
Hello Chris,
Please accept my sincere apologies for the delayed response. I have just found a machine with MacOS in our test labs. I have carried out some tests and successfully replicated the problematic behavior. However, it is not replicated stably and seems to be specific only to MacOS. I have not managed to replicate this issue when all tooltip types of the ASPxScheduler are disabled. Please try to disable tooltips on your side (use the Customization - Custom ToolTip demo) and check whether or not the issue is gone.
Thanks,
Alessandro.
Thanks for this Alessandro,
I have reproduced the error reliably using the custom tool tip demo with all the tooptips disabled, as you suggested.
This was on a different mac book pro (Lion) - again using Safari.
I do not use tooltips on my site either, and I and my users have observed the issue here too (site uses DX 10.2.8).
Which version of mac OS did you use? Was it a mac book pro ? So far, I've had no reports of this issue on anything apart from the MB pro and only then using Safari along with the track-pad.
Sadly, it's a pretty popular combination.
I can give you log-in details to my live site if it helps in your testing.
Thanks
Chris
Hello Chris,
I regret to hear that you continue experiencing this issue. I will forward this ticket to our developers. They will check whether or not it is possible to do anything on our side to fix this issue. Please understand that it might take some additional time because we are not quite familiar with Mac machines/OS.
P.S.: We have tested this issue by using Mac OS Leopard.
Thanks,
Alessandro.
Hi Alessandro,
Thanks to you and the team for fixing this - great work.
