The a.m. (a.m) and p.m. (p.m) abbreviations are not handled correctly by the SpellChecker spelling engine

created 9 years ago

In the attachment, you can find a video that demonstrates the issue in action.
Even if you add the "a.m." abbreviation to a custom dictionary, the "a.m" abbreviation is not marked as incorrect and SpellChecker does not suggest the "a.m." abbreviation for correcting.
An attached sample demonstrates this behavior.

      Still not quite right.
If I have "e.g." in a custom dictionary and type "eg." in a document, and choose "e.g." as the correction then I see "e.g…".

You are right, Simon, we did not consider and handle the scenario you described while fixing the issue with the a.m. (a.m) and p.m. (p.m) abbreviations.
A new issue with replacing the "eg." abbreviation with the "e.g…" text should be considered separately. I have created a new ticket on your behalf and passed it to our developers for further research.
Please bear with us. We will update the status of the following ticket once we have any results:
The "eg." abbreviation is replaced with incorrect text when the "e.g." option is selected in the spelling menu
